23/24 COVID-19 Guidelines for Schools

The K-12 COVID-19 Guidance for the 2023-2024 school year was just released by CDPH on 8/28/23.   BUSD will continue to follow ICPH guidelines for K-12 schools and general BUSD attendance policies on all campuses:

  • Individuals who have tested positive should stay home.  5 days of isolation is recommended, but not required, and depends on each individuals' symptoms and circumstances.  
  • Individuals may return to work/school/childcare after symptoms have resolved, including at least 24 hours passed since resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications. 
  • A doctor's note is not required to return to school.  
  • Students who are out for 3+ days are eligible for short term independent study. 
  • Home test kits are available at health offices, free of charge
  • Encourage good hygiene - frequent hand washing, stay home when sick

Five-step prevention measures that are proven to reduce the spread of respiratory viruses:

  1. Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and warm water OR hand sanitizer;

  2. Cough and/or sneeze into your elbow or arm;

  3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth;
