Students sell produce at a farmers market

Our students planted the seeds, cared for the crops, harvested the produce, and sold it at a market during the C5 Art Walk event last Saturday. While our goal is for most of the food grown on the school farm to go directly to students and the cafeteria, when there is extra produce, it is fun for students to sell it at farmers' markets.

This is a great experience to apply real-world math skills as students calculate totals, count money, and make sales. All of the funds earned go right back into the school farm to help purchase more seeds and supplies for future harvests.

Looking to get your hands on some fresh student-grown produce? Students from Bishop Elementary will be selling produce again this Saturday at the Eastern Sierra Land Trust Garden Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 250 N. Fowler.
